is the website fiverr a scam

Fiverr is a website where you can buy and sell simple tasks for $5. Almost most of the tasks that are on fiverr are to do with directing traffic to your website or blog, or making adjustments to your blog. Another very popular idea on fiverr is holding up a piece of card with you name on it in the middle of a large city, and recording it onto video, or taking a picture. It is a simple website, and has many categories to choose from to buy and sell your adverts.

If you are a seller on Fiverr, then you will earn just around $4 per transaction, because Fiverr take a commission. When you sign up, you will have to verify your paypal account, and you can then begin selling things or buying things right away.

The payment setup of Fiverr means that you first have to wait a few days for the buyer to approve their purchase from you. After that you normally have to wait 14 days for the payment to clear. Then you can withdawl the money. However, I have never managed to withdrawl my money from them, despite numerous attempts.  I emailed the support department, and here is the transcript of the fiverr support communications that just give me the impression that for $4 a task, i would certainly not recommend it to anyone selling. But if your a buyer, there are plenty of bargains.

(me) I must have asked at least five times for a payment verification email, but nothing ever arrives in my inbox, however i get every other fiverr email, is this a scam?

(fiverr) Please verify you typed the correct email address for your withdrawal (you can repeat the process from your revenues balance page). You may also want to make sure that the email did not get blocked by spam filters etc.

(me) I received this email, and that should be the same email as my paypal,

(fiverr) I am sorry to hear that. Your PayPal account may be restricted. Some regions are limited from receiving payments to PayPal accounts. Please contact PayPal to check if your PayPal account allows accepting funds. These problems are outside Fiverr's network. Once you have resolved this matter with PayPal, please contact us again.

(me) As per my original sentence, i don't even receive the verification email for payment from fiverr in the first place. Is it going into my junk mail? No, i have looked, and i receive this email in my normal inbox along with other fiverr emails. Thats the problem i'm still trying to resolve, i'm not even having a problem with my paypal, i withdrawl money from it everyday, im from the UK, so i doubt there is a problem. Can you just include the payment verification link in this email. That way i can verify my correct paypal email. thanks

(fiverr) Can you please supply the PayPal address associated with your account? Regards.

(me) email address supplied

(fiverr) That is not the email address associated with this account. Please verify any other email accounts you have and let us know, Regards

(me) how do i change it then to the one i want? I've looked in all the seller settings and there isn't any option to change it.

(fiverr) Thank you for your inquiry. For the security of the account, a change of PayPal ID would require the following:

1. a scanned copy of your passport or another government-issued ID - the name must be the same as it appears on your PayPal account that was used for the Fiverr transactions

2. a test deposit from the PayPal ID you FIRST used on Fiverr, sent to Fiverr, for the minimum amount allowed by PayPal (such as $0.01, etc.) - this amount would be NON-REFUNDABLE as it is costly for us to process this authentication. If you cannot send money from that PayPal ID, you must provide documentation of earlier Fiverr-related transactions from that PayPal ID - that documentation will be verified with PayPal before proceeding with this update.

That test deposit should be sent to info@fiverr.com, and please send us the PayPal transaction ID associated with that test deposit. NOTE: please do NOT send any messages to this address; only the test deposits. Messages should be sent through the Fiverr Support webpage.

3. your PayPal account I.D./email - the same I.D. as was used for your FIRST Fiverr transaction.

We ask for your understanding in going through this process as we take the security of the account seriously.

Regards,

Fiverr Administration

( me)I don't have the original paypal account anymore, if its the one that was registered to <old email address), and i only have a driving license.

(fiverr) A transaction ID from a previous transfer would do and so would a driver's license.

(me) Like i already said i don't have access to that paypal account any longer, so i can't get a transaction id for it. Exactly what details do you need from my driving licence? I've never had to enter any address details, and you don't know what i look like. So you won't have a problem if i blank these parts out (purely for security purposes)

I've used Fiverr! its a total scam!

So is Fiverr a scam? Well i never received any more responses for my emails, so they still have my money i earned, and have not helped or made it easy for me to fix things. They also don't read my answers to questions properly.  I would say Fiverr is a scam, whats your experience?

Fiverr banned my account, not sure why. Upon 90days, i sent to fiverr to allow me to withdraw my cash. the revenue eligible to withdraw is about $40.. but i have total about $84 showing up as 'cleared' so i should be able to get back $84 which i have delivered to those customers in fiverr.. What happen to the balance $44?? i send to fiverr to ask and they never reply me. Only to ask me to withdraw within 24hours.. SCAMMER!! They cap earnings at $40 for banned account??????? SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!

Fiverr banned my account too with no reason and take my money.

I think they care very little for both buyers and sellers. I've used them quite a bit and on average 20% of everything you buy will not get delivered and you will simply lose your money. I'm surprised you even received a reply from their support team. I've bought over 400 gigs so far and sent them about 15 e-mails about non delivery and have never gotten a reply or had any of them resolved. I finally got fed up with losing money and filed a dispute with paypal, fiverr's response was an automatic ban of my account. Apparently if you dispute a payment you are no longer welcomed at all regardless if it's valid or not.

The bottom line is that there is quite a few good bargains on there, but if you use them be prepared to have a few dollars stolen from you now and again.

Lonko's comment made me laugh a bit. Yes, you may have money taken on Fiverr from poor sellers, but if you just e-mail support, they'll refund it to you. I'm both a buyer and seller on Fiverr and I can verify that they do pay out the $4/gig. Some sellers are crap, yeah. Most people on there just do it for fun, not as a legitimate business, so some people neglect to do orders or do them poorly. If they don't do at all, Fiverr gives you the opportunity to cancel the order 24 hours after the order was due. If they do a poor job, that's when you try and work something out with the seller to get a better result. If they're not cooperative, you leave negative feedback and are out $4 because you can't use what they gave you. Omg, I know that must've been your whole life's savings. -.- In any case, if you can, stick to featured/top-rated sellers. Fiverr monitors those so those sellers are generally quite good.

Their support always answers, btw. They have a team and several people are always up and online, ready to help. You'll definitely get an answer.

**********************FIVERR SCAM ALERT!*******************

Fiverr banned my account permanently all of a sudden without reason or explanation. They are just ignoring me without bothering to give a reason, very unprofessional and shady business practices to say the least. And I was a dedicated seller for over a year there and they just hit me with a permanent ban out of the blue with no explanation or anything (even after I requested multiple times) and they had congratulated me with by boosting me to Level 2 less than a week earlier.

So they are definitely running a scam and don't care who they run over. Perhaps they're losing money behind the scenes, greed, or whatever. But they're flat-out scamming good members without any good reason, confiscating funds and getting away with it. But we as a web community can't keep letting ripoff companies like Fiverr get away with these types of actions.

I really don't believe I will get my money left in my account - even if I wait 45 - 90 day as I have heard that some people who have waited have logged in after the waiting period only to find their accounts wiped clean (or at best drastically reduced) while Fiverr can simply lie and state that there were no earnings left.

Proofs:

This makes me very upset!

I know they are an inside scam based on their actions towards me and similar stories around the web - and I want to do something about it! I am willing to ban together with others who are willing to take a strong stand and make some real noise against Fiverrs wrong doing. Otherwise they will continue to scam users out of untold amounts of money.

Anyone interested in joining together to fight this as a team, please send me a message at - webcom[AT]nhgoa.com - with the words "Fiverr Scam" in the subject line. We don't have to take this; there is Power In Numbers!

I have seen plenty of new Fiverr clones that try to get better then fiverr, but they have not that many gigs. Like tenrr.com and giggerr.com

But I keep them in mind if Fiverr.com is getting harder to get my money from.

John 3 months ago

P.S. I just register on http://www.giggerr.com and on http://wwww.tenrr.com

Hope that will work better then Fiverr :-)
